This training introduces low cost sanitation using instruction and hands-on experience. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the issues and best practices included in sanitation and will work with concrete and construct basic latrine components and hand washing stations.

This training covers the foundation of rainwater harvesting and management. Using the concepts of rainwater management, and implementing key components of rainwater harvesting, professionals and trades practitioners will be able to design, create and manage quality systems in a sustainable and environmentally ethical manner.

By the end of this training the participants will be able to:

• Identify the components of a rainwater harvesting system
• Calculate the amount of potential water collection from a surface
• Calculate the amount of water needed to supply a household
• Assemble and install a rainwater collection system

This training provides a detailed understanding of the principles and practice of borehole design and maintenance, including design, drilling, geophysical investigation, test pumping, and long-term maintenance. The focus is on water supply boreholes, although many of the techniques apply equally to other types of boreholes used for investigation, monitoring or water quality sampling.
